| We have made substantial research on toughening of thermoplastic polymers in order to satisfy impact end-use requirements for rigid applications. Our research efforts are directed towards the synthesis of different types of rubbers, functionalized rubbers and core-shell rubbers as impact modifiers for transparent polymers. Methodologies of synthesis by in-situ toughening of thermoplastics and via compounding have been developed to obtain prototypes. Our research is based on the control of polymer structure and morphology in order to establish structure-property relationships. Correlations have been established between mechanical properties, deformation mechanisms and chemistry of the elastomeric particles to establish a technological platform for toughening of thermoplastic polymers. We count with well equipped laboratories for studying the fracture mechanisms and impact resistance of polymers as well as focused know-how of plastic reinforcement. Investigation techniques as morphologic analysis, determination of the fragile-ductile fractures and deformation mechanisms are used to determinate the modification of polymers. Our staff is specialized on translating customer requirements to mechanical properties in order to obtain new polymers. |
